Empowering Local Farmers through AFCE Coffee Programmes

At AFCE, we’re passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of smallholder farmers in the West Nile region. Thanks to the generous support from OXFAM, we’ve taken steps to enhance the quality of coffee produced by these farmers through our pro-poor coffee value chain initiative.

What exactly have we been up to? Well, we’re thrilled to share that we’ve built seven coffee micro-washing and processing stations in the West Nile region. These stations are a game-changer, allowing us to significantly improve both the quality and quantity of coffee produced by local farmers.

The numbers tell a compelling story. In 2017, we saw 5,000 kilograms of coffee being processed and sold. Fast forward to 2019, and that number has skyrocketed to an impressive 31,000 kilograms. This means more opportunities and income for smallholder farmers, contributing to the overall economic development of the region.
