AFCE’s work spans several key areas aimed at creating lasting change:
Increased Access to Quality Education and Sports
- Village Education Committees (VECs): We establish VECs in local communities, providing training on their roles and responsibilities to strengthen local educational governance.
- Participatory Action Research (PAR): Our training equips VEC members with skills in PAR, enabling them to identify and advocate for key educational issues within their villages.
- Advocacy and Collaboration: We facilitate joint meetings between VECs and local government authorities to address higher-level educational advocacy concerns. Additionally, we support VEC participation in district and national advocacy events.
- Village Education Forums: We organize forums at the village level to discuss educational challenges and opportunities, fostering community-driven solutions.
- Teacher Training: AFCE conducts personal transformation training for teachers, aiming to enhance their effectiveness and impact in the classroom.
- Sports Support and Development: We promote sports activities in schools to nurture talent and provide opportunities for youth. We also advocate for sports as a means of job creation for youth who have dropped out of formal education.
- International Volunteer Engagement: We lobby for international volunteers to coach and mentor sportsmen and sportswomen, enriching local talent development programs.
- Football Tournaments: AFCE organizes national and regional football tournaments, creating platforms for young athletes to showcase their skills and pursue opportunities in the sports sector.
Our Approach
At AFCE, we believe that empowering individuals through education and sports can significantly enhance their quality of life. Our approach involves:
- Community Engagement: We work closely with local communities to understand their needs and design interventions that are both relevant and effective.
- Capacity Building: Through training and workshops, we equip individuals and groups with the skills and knowledge necessary for personal and community development.
- Advocacy and Policy Influence: We engage in advocacy to influence educational and employment policies, ensuring that the needs of youth and women are addressed at higher levels.
- Partnerships and Collaboration: We collaborate with local and international partners to amplify our impact and bring additional resources and expertise to our initiatives.
